ALLLLLLMOST.....

Only one more day of exams!
I can't wait to see you all at graduation! So proud! And for those of you who are sophomores/juniors, I can't wait to see you all next year!

But before that, enjoy your summer! Have a blast! Rest up, relax, and be ready/eager to learn--whether you'll be in high-school again or starting a whole new chapter of your life post-EHHS!

And even before that....here are your final grades...

Need Stamps?

Stamps are DUE THURSDAY! Don't forget!

You need a total of 15 stamps (there are opportunities for plenty below!).

I know lots of people are worried about stamps....here are some opportunities to earn more....

1. Find out the name of the game John Nash plays in the movie A Beautiful Mind (the one where they move the black/white pieces that look like rocks/marbles). [1 stamp]

2. What are the Millenium Prize Problems? In a few sentences describe what these are, and then list the 7 Millenium Prize Problems. [4 stamps]

3. Create a poster that briefly outlines one of the statistical ideas below for the classroom. The poster MUST be neat, clear, colorful, and legible throughout the classroom. [Maximum of 10 stamps, depending on quality and statistical accuracy]
  • Categorical vs. Quantitative data, with examples
  • Types of graphical displays (for categorical and quantitative data)
  • Z-Scores: how to calculate? what are they?
  • SOCS: What is it? Provide specifics--what do we use to describe shape, center, spread?
  • Outliers: What are they?  How do we determine if a number is an outlier for one variable (two methods)? How do we determine if something is an outlier in a scatter plot?

Just Wanted To Say Hi!

Only 6 more AP Stat classes to go....2 watching Freakonomics, and 4 watching A Beautiful Mind....hopefully :)

Can you believe that we're almost done? As I think back to all of the hard work we put in, to all of the hours after school, to all of the homework and grading and so on, I can't believe that we're almost done. This year has gone by so quickly!

I hope you all know how proud of you I am. I know you all did well on the exam. I know you worked hard and rose to my challenges all year. I'm excited for all of you as we move toward the end of the year and onto the next chapter of our lives--whether it be college, junior year, or senior year. But first, let's get excited about summer!

And it's also time to say hello to my incoming students--so, hey! Hope you are checking up on this blog if you've received the summer assignment. Feel free to email me anytime with questions/concerns! I can't wait for us to get started on our own year-long journey of rigourous statistical analysis!
