Welcome back to school (officially)!
As I told you in class (if I didn't, sorry I forgot), I am super excited for the upcoming year in AP Stat! I was very impressed with all of you during our summer academy--I was impressed with your attitudes, your focus, and your willingness to learn! If we can maintain that type of energy throughout the year I have no doubt we can dominate the AP exam in May and have the best scores ever at EHHS!
I hope you had an AWESOME first day and are looking forward to your year as well!
There is no homework tonight. Don't get used to that. You will definitely have homework over your three day weekend!
Tomorrow in class we'll start to get into chapter 2 and take some more notes. We'll talk about some of the "business" stuff--Remind, syllabus, rules/routines--little by little each day, rather than having one long boring class to discuss it all.
See you all tomorrow! Can't wait!
Welcome! At this blog you can fill your craving for all of the East Hartford High School AP Statistics news, assignments, and other random info. Watch some videos, make use of the classroom resources, study a lil', and be sure to listen to the Stat Raps!

Last Summer Session Tomorrow!
Great work the past two days! I'm impressed with you all thus far! Let's end tomorrow strong--come prepared to work and eager to learn!
In our session tomorrow we will learn some stuff and have a class discussion about some examples for about 30 - 40 minutes. You will then have about 45 minutes to work on your summer assignments. Come prepared to work! The time you are given in class is to work on your summer assignment, use it accordingly!
I'm looking forward to wrapping up our first ever summer academy, and then getting started on a great year! Nice work so far!

Updated Updated AP Stat Rosters and Info!
Our work begins NEXT WEEK with our AP Summer Academy! (August 23, 24, 25). Remember, this is a MANDATORY component to our course. If you have any questions or you have not signed up for a time slot, please email me at carofano.fm@easthartford.org!
Here are the UPDATED rosters for our summer sessions. Please email me if you need to be added/removed/changed or if I messed up your name! (UPDATED WEDS 8/17).
If you complete your summer assignment and turn it in at the conclusion of our class on Thursday you will receive extra credit!
Here are the UPDATED rosters for our summer sessions. Please email me if you need to be added/removed/changed or if I messed up your name! (UPDATED WEDS 8/17).
Here is some general information regarding your summer assignment and our summer academy.
We will complete some, but not all of, the summer assignment in our academy: here's what we'll cover in our 3 days:
- Graphical Displays: creating histograms and boxplots, by hand and using our calculator
- This will address questions 13 - 17 in the summer assignment
- Linear Regression: creating scatterplots and using the line of best fit (all on calc.)
- This will relate to questions 9 - 12, 24, 26, 27, 29, and deals with the same type of data as 1 - 8.
- On our 3rd day we'll answer any remaining questions about the concepts above, and may address some other miscellaneous topics like finding an overall mean and looking at some basic probabilities
- This would relate to questions 19-22, 23, 30
Therefore, there are some questions in your summer assignment that will not be covered in our Summer Academy; you will be expected to complete these independently, to be collected on the first day of school (this is your first test grade!) Get a head start now! Use any and all resources, including the links on this blog!
You will have to complete the following questions independently, as they may not be addressed in our summer academy:
- 1-8, 18 (bar graph), 19-22 (probability with a contingency table), 25, 28, 30
I'm looking forward to working with you all and learning lots of awesome Statistics! The AP Stat Cohort of 2015-16 has set the bar high--read the blog post below!--but we'll embrace that challenge and work to build on their success! Enjoy your last days of summer! Have a blast hanging out with friends and family, relaxing, working, and enjoying the sun! Rest your brain and come back energized in our summer academy--and maybe do some of those summer assignment questions along the way so you're not scrambling at the last minute! :)
And ALWAYS feel free to email any time with questions! (carofano.fm@easthartford.org).
