You need a total of 15 stamps (there are opportunities for plenty below!).
I know lots of people are worried about stamps....here are some opportunities to earn more....
1. Find out the name of the game John Nash plays in the movie A Beautiful Mind (the one where they move the black/white pieces that look like rocks/marbles). [1 stamp]
2. What are the Millenium Prize Problems? In a few sentences describe what these are, and then list the 7 Millenium Prize Problems. [4 stamps]
3. Create a poster that briefly outlines one of the statistical ideas below for the classroom. The poster MUST be neat, clear, colorful, and legible throughout the classroom. [Maximum of 10 stamps, depending on quality and statistical accuracy]
- Categorical vs. Quantitative data, with examples
- Types of graphical displays (for categorical and quantitative data)
- Z-Scores: how to calculate? what are they?
- SOCS: What is it? Provide specifics--what do we use to describe shape, center, spread?
- Outliers: What are they? How do we determine if a number is an outlier for one variable (two methods)? How do we determine if something is an outlier in a scatter plot?
