Tonight's HW:
- Please complete the "Summer Academy Debrief" worksheet provided in class (or linked below.).
- Please grade your homework! What's the point of practicing if I don't check my work? Here's a link to the answer key...
Tomorrow in class we'll get back to our chapter 4 notes about quantitative displays, specifically focusing on dotplots and stemplots. Then we'll start to look at how we describe these distributions (if time permits)....See you there!
Remember, we will have a quiz based (primarily) on what we learned in our summer classes on Friday!
- EVERYONE is taking this.
- If you weren't here for our summer classes it is entirely your responsibility to learn what you missed! Be responsible and take initiative!
- Check the blog post below for some suggested resources
What's on the quiz/what should I know after the Summer Academy?
- Statistics Vocab:
- Data
- Quantitative Variable
- know which graphs are used for quantitative data
- know what statistics we use to summarize quantitative data
- more so, know what measures of spread, center, and position can be used
- Categorical Variable
- know which graphs are used for categorical data
- know what statistics we use to summarize categorical data
- Find the "overall mean" given two different samples and their averages
- Create a histogram given a data set (using graphing calculator)
- Read histograms: find sample size, median, estimate range, find proportions given a histogram (without data)
- Create a boxplot given a data set (using graphing calculator)
- Create a boxplot given only summary data (know how to make a boxplot by hand)
- Calculate fences to determine if there are outliers in a data set
- Know how to read a histogram if the bins are centered v. if the bins are between two values
