QUIZ TOMORROW!

Study! Tomorrow we have our chapter 4 quiz; you will have about 15 minutes to complete each of the following:

1. Create a histogram given a data set (use your calculator!) (5 points)
2. Describe the distribution shown in the histogram. (5 points)
3. 4 questions about reading histograms (like yesterday's stamp problem) (4 points)

Use the assignment we worked on in groups to study....it's pretty similar to the quiz!

Also, for homework tonight, I asked you to describe the histogram that we didn't get to in class, either the Old Faithful Eruptions or Customer Service Times. (this is called forcing you to study, hopefully).

Here are the homework answers, so you know if you're doing this correctly (the stuff in parentheses definitely adds to our answer, but may not be necessary):

The distribution of customer service times is unimodal and skewed right with 2 possible high outliers. (One customer service time was around 2 hours!). Most (or the majority of) service times are "shorter," an last at most 25 minutes. The median service time is roughly between 0 and 12.5 minutes, and the range of service times is about 125 minutes.



The distribution of Old Faithful eruption durations (times) is bimodal and somewhat symmetric. There are no apparent outliers. Eruption times are either long or short--they are usually 4-5 minutes long or 1.5-2.5 minutes long.
The median duration is around 3.5 to 4 minutes, and the range of eruption times about 4 minutes (5.5-1.5)

And lastly, I may not have checked homework today (the book problems from yesterday's post) due to time...so I'll get to that tomorrow. Meaning, if you didn't have it done today, you have a second chance...

Period B: Does the data on the worksheet I gave you look familiar? Turns out I'm a moron and we already used this in class...so I blew it, and you got lucky. Don't even bother doing this worksheet, because we made a stemplot and a histogram of this data in class already.

Also, on page 65, please complete 9 and 23.

Now that we've gotten our Pre-Test out of the way, it's time to finish up chapter 3 (tomorrow) and start doing some math!
