Goodbye/Hello :( :)

To my graduating kids--the big day is almost upon us! I can't wait to see you all tomorrow with your beaming smiles, hot outfits, and caps and gowns, as you get ready to start the path toward doing big things. You all possess such incredible potential and I have no doubt I'll be seeing some of you on the news and tv and such someday. It's definitely a bittersweet moment--I'm so proud of all of you for everything you've done not only in statistics this year, but just in your lives overall. You should be too. I hope you all keep in touch. I didn't think I'd be able to develop such a tight bond with 75 stat kids just due to sheer numbers, but you've all proven to be special people and easily conquered the crazy student-teacher ratio. I love you! Congratulations!

And with each ending, comes a new beginning....

Yo new stat kids! The bar has been set high by this year's crew. I have the utmost confidence you can continue to raise that bar rather than falling short of it. Many of you I already know through SAT class or just passing in the halls and such, and I know I have a lot of really good, smart kids coming in.

SUMMER ASSIGNMENT:

Just check this blog. To be honest, the next post likely will not be until July 19ish, b/c I'll be at a statistics conference all week getting the mathematical juices flowing. I also have to dedicate some time and figure out a way to get all these statistics projects up to check out. So for now, just look around the blog...check out all the links, some old posts, just explore when you're bored and websurfing.

And relax! Be ready for a lot of hard work next year!

Senior Picnic!

I miss you guys! Hope you're all enjoying your picnic! I'm almost done through this loong meeting, planning out all the fun Saturdays and such for next year!

Don't forget to tell every single person you know about the Stat Rap (Remix). I can't be famous and give you all a cut if you don't help a brotha out.

Monday, 5/17

Yo yo! Today was the last day we'll work in class on the project in class. To some of you, great work; to others, I'm nervous about how much class time you wasted. Hopefully you step you're game up at home. Everyone has an awesome, interesting idea to address. I'm really looking forward to seeing your work toward the end of the year.

This is not a project where everyone will get an A for trying. You have an incredible amount of time, as well as time in class. I expect to see your work reflect the amount of time you've had. Further, to those of you with groups, I expect to see four times more work than others, and to see you all contribute. Don't take this lightly--THIS IS 40% OF YOUR FOURTH QUARTER GRADE!!!!!!!!

I'll miss you all tomorrow and Wed--be in DC with Soucy for the awards ceremony. You'll be watching 21 in class. Enjoy. If there are any issues, it's on my desktop--just click and play.

See you Thursday! On Thursday we're starting ancient number systems!

Stat Rap is up!

Check out the new "Statistics Raps" link. You get both raps, and the radio interview I did (if interested). Tell all your friends!

There's also a link to the Cool Schools from last year.
And by just below the other link, I meant I still have to convert the file.....in time. Soon. Relax.

Friday

Turns out that whole plan I wrote up yesterday is all a lie.

Hope you enjoyed the stat rap remix. You can find it just below the other one now!

I'm also going to have a direct link to the two raps.

Tomorrow we'll get crackin' on those projects! And it's Friday!

Wednesday!

A lil' more Numb3rs today...hopefully you enjoyed the exploration of voting and statistics and such. Might be a good idea to take notes, b/c you're going to have to do a write up at the end, with specific references to episodes.

Other than that, stay on top of your game. We'll finish the week with three Numb3rs episodes. Then, on Monday we'll go to the computer lab to do some writing about our views.

Tuesday and Wednesday of next week I won't be here--you'll be watching 21 in class.

DON'T FORGET ABOUT THOSE PROJECTS!!!! NEED TO HAVE YOUR CALENDAR FILLED OUT FOR TOMORROW!!!
