Onto the last chapter of probability! Yay!

Tonight, please use your textbook to find answers to these chapter 17 reading questions:

1. What are the three qualifications for a situation to be a Bernoulli trial?

2. What is a Geometric probability model used to calculate?
3. What is the 10% condition?
4. A Binomial model is defined by two parameters. What are these?
5. The formula for a binomial probability is highlighted (middle of the page) on page 391. What is this formula?
6. What do each of these variables—n, k, p, and q—represent?
7. Look on page 391, just above the box at the bottom, the (blue) highlighted sentence. Write this sentence. (“A binomial probability model describes…)
8. What are the formulas for mean and standard deviation of a Binomial probability model (look at the box on page 391).
9. What is the success/failure condition? It is used to determine if we can use….(what)?
10. Look at the TI Tips box on page 393. What is the difference between binompdf( and binomcdf( ?

Thursday HW

Wednesday HW

First day back! Well, first day of the second semester at least. Home stretch to the AP exam...

We're going to flyyyy through probability; that doesn't mean it'll be easy, quite the opposite. We need some serious hard work and dedication for the third quarter.

Tonight, please complete page 366: 35, 37, 39, 41, 43, 45 (aka 35 - 45 odd).

Stamps?!

There is an alarming number of people who did not hand in stamps; if you do not turn these in on Tuesday you will have a 0/15 as a classwork grade :(

If you won't be here on Tuesday you can lay out your stamps, take a picture, and email me this shot of the stamps with the total number. I'll enter the grade so you don't have to come in to school, but you MUST physically bring the stamps on Wednesday. I'm trying to do you a favor and not force you to bring them in on make up exam day; if you don't follow through and/or lie, I will have to subtract some stamps next quarter. (But I know none of you will do that, I trust you all.....errr....most of you....)

Otherwise, rest up, rejuvenate, and be ready to work hard when you're back! Our goal is to finish probability before the end of January. It'll be tough, but we've fallen a little too far behind and need to make up some ground.

The third quarter is the most important quarter for us. It's the final fulll quarter before the AP exam, and generally covers topics that dominate the test. So now's the time to step it up and work harder than you have all year.

We can relax after May 10th :)
