This weekend please complete the "AP Statistics Test Review: Ch. 19, 20, 21." 

• We will have our test on these chapters on Tuesday!

• I will be after school Monday (until 3:15/3:30) to answer any questions you have (on the review or anything else) and to help study!

• On Monday in class we will start our new stuff, chapter 22--2 proportion z tests and intervals!

Tonight (Wednesday) please complete the following for homework (based on today's notes on types of error):

Page 492-493: 11a-d, 13, 19a-d

• For 11d, 13cd, and 19, when considering "possible consequences," or who would be harmed, use the information given in the context (only)--don't go off on a tangent and make up your own stuff...
• For example, in #11, we are told, "Since this plan costs the city tax revenues, they will continue to use it only if there is strong evidence that the rate of home ownership is increasing." 
• Use this information to determine "who would be harmed" for each type of error
• Help with hypotheses and consequences:
• Consider #11...
• Ho: p = 0.683 
• What does this mean in words? This means: 68.3% of American families own a home--this is the wording we'll use when we say "the Ho is true"
• Ha: p > 0.683
• What does this mean in words? More than 68.3% of American families own a home
• For "who is harmed, consider this info: "They (the town) decide to adopt the plan (offering tax breaks to first time homeowners) on a 2 year trial basis...Since this plan costs the city tax revenues, they will continue to use it only if there is strong evidence that the rate of home ownership is increasing."
• Now, consider a Type I error--"In reality, 68.3% of Americans own a home, but our test suggests more than 68.3% of Americans own a home." As a result, the town things the tax breaks are working, but they are not. As a result, the town is harmed because the town loses money.
• Hypotheses for #13:
• No numbers here....
• For #13 we are trying to "find significant evidence that the shop is certifying vehicles that do not meet standards"--this is our Ha
• Ho: the show is NOT certifying vehicles that do not meet standards
• Ha: the shop is certifying vehicles that do not meet standards

Let's WORK to ace our upcoming unit test on confidence intervals and hypothesis tests! Success is all about being willing to put in the work to maximize your potential--I know every one of you has the ability to make yourself proud and earn a qualifying score in May (and to ace our upcoming test), but we have to be willing to push ourselves, both inside the classroom and out.

That "push yourself" starts now. Study a little each day. Use time tomorrow if we're off again to study some more. Use the resources provided; start by completing the multiple choice we tackled in groups on Friday (and checking your answers below), and doing your homework. Then, if you're struggling or have questions you want answered, come by after school Wednesday to review, or work with the tutors in the Math Lab (Tues-Thursday A-G period).

**AP REGISTRATION FORMS/FEES ARE PAST DUE--BE SURE TO GET YOURS IN MONDAY IF YOU HAVE NOT DONE SO!**

You have two responsibilities for homework:

1.) Study for your chapter 20 vocab quiz (start of class Monday)

• We did not do as well as we could have on our chapter 19 quiz--let's be sure to ace this one! The quarter closes in a few weeks, so ace a quiz and boost your average....

2.) Complete the "Chapter 20 Quiz: Testing Hypotheses for Proportions!" worksheet provided in class (or below).

• You are expected to have this completed for Monday even if you were absent. Don't get a 0.
• This is the chapter 20 "math quiz" that we would have taken in class (if not for two snow days); this is a great way to see where you stand with hypothesis testing, and a tool to prepare for Thursday's test
• I may check this as homework, I may collect it and score it as a take home quiz--and I may do things differently for each period....I'll decide Monday....
• That means you need to complete this as if it were a quiz so that if I collect/grade it you earn an A!

Remember, we will have a test on everything confidence intervals and hypothesis tests on Thursday (3/15), no matter what happens with weather! This test will include the content we learn Monday-Wednesday!

• These questions can be found in the "Hypothesis Tests and Conclusions" packet that we worked through (some of) in class yesterday
• Complete (SHOW ALL WORK) the following questions in the packet 
• As you work in your groups on our classwork (next class) I will come around and check your answers; for each correct answer you'll get one stamp (maybe two if you provided a very clear, detailed, organized solution)
• Page 3: "Consider the Second Context"
• Complete the second, third, fourth, and fifth bullets
• Period A only: you can also complete the first bullet, or this whole page, since we didn't get to this in class
• Again, if you do not show work or explain your reasoning you will not earn a stamp
• Back page: "On Your Own"
• Complete the 2 AP MC on the back
• This means you can earn up to 6 extra stamps! I plan to continue to include additional stamp opportunities and intend to have the highest number of stamps required for this quarter--so take advantage of this opportunity!

• When doing part b you should write the hypothesis, skip the conditions (they were checked for the interval in a), then use your interval to decide if you "reject the null hypothesis" or "fail to reject the null hypothesis" and explain why
• For #17 we CANNOT do a one prop z test...your task is to explain why

• For each of these we need to conduct a full hypothesis test!
