what's the difference b/w a spread and the center (chapter 4)?
Center tells us (approximately) where the middle of teh data is. If we had this simple data 1,2,3,4,5, the center would be at 3. The spread tells how far apart our numbers are, and we use things like "Standard Deviation" or "Range." Standard deviation measures how far each individual datum is from the mean (average), and range is the highest minus the lowest (in this case, 5 - 1 = 4).
