- For #1 you have to list the sample space, or all of the possible outcomes for each scenario; for example, if look at 2b...
- If a family has 3 children and we record the genders in order of birth...Sample Space (S) = {BBB, BBG, BGB, BGG, GBB, GBG, GGB, GGG}
- For #2 and 5, use today's notes/examples from class!
- For #7, use the table to answer each question (like our old Titanic problems...)
- For #19, remember that we are selecting batteries WITHOUT REPLACEMENT. This means that when we take a battery out, we do not put it back...
- So, we can still rewrite questions with words, but our fractions will change...
- For example, for 19a:
- P(both good) = "GOOD and GOOD" = (7/12) x (6/11) (This is 6/11 because we took one good battery out, so now there are only 6 good ones left and 11 total batteries left)!
